Sale Rails and Small Print: A Sensible Black Friday Checklist for UK CBD Shoppers

Black Friday has a way of making a 30ml bottle feel like a personal emergency. Your inbox fills up, banners start counting down, and somewhere between the kettle and the commute you find yourself wondering whether you need three bottles of something you have never tried.

That is not a deal. That is a drawer of regret in waiting.

The good news is that comparing CBD and hemp offers does not require a spreadsheet the size of a tea towel. It requires a bit of calm, a couple of questions, and the willingness to close a tab. Here is the checklist we would use before handing over card details in late November 2026.

Start with the routine, not the red banner

Before you look at any sale page, look at your shelf. What do you actually use? If it is a 10ml oil taken under the tongue each morning, a bargain on capsules is not a bargain for you. If you have a balm you use twice a week, a three-for-two on a new format is probably just stock you will move around the cupboard until it expires.

A useful rule: one in, one out. Finish something before you replace it. Black Friday is a sales event, not a health deadline, and no bottle is improved by being bought in a panic.

Compare like for like, then do the small maths

CBD products are not priced by bottle size. They are priced by how much CBD is in the bottle. A 10ml bottle with 500mg is not the same as a 10ml bottle with 1,000mg, even if the boxes look similar.

Find the total CBD content in milligrams and the bottle volume in millilitres. Divide the milligrams by the millilitres to get milligrams per millilitre. That number lets you compare two products without being distracted by the shape of the bottle or the word ‘strong’ on the label.

For example, a 30ml bottle containing 1,500mg works out at 50mg per ml. A 10ml bottle containing 1,000mg works out at 100mg per ml. The smaller bottle is more concentrated. Whether it is better value depends on the price, but at least you are now comparing the right thing.

Give the ‘was’ price a sideways look

A crossed-out price is not evidence of a good deal. It is evidence that someone knows how to use a font. If a product has been £29.99 for most of the year and is suddenly ‘was £49.99, now £24.99’, the only real question is whether £24.99 is a fair price for that product today.

In the UK, pricing claims are meant to be honest and not misleading, but you do not need to be a regulator to spot the obvious. Check the shop’s usual price outside the sale if you can. Look at the price per mg rather than the percentage off. If the maths only works because of an inflated ‘was’ figure, walk away.

Ask whether you will actually finish it

Bulk buying makes sense for things you use every day and know you like. It makes less sense for a new flavour, a new strength, or a format you have never tried. CBD oils and hemp products have shelf lives, and a bargain that sits at the back of a warm cupboard is not a bargain.

If you are tempted by a multi-buy, check the use-by date and think honestly about how long it will take you to get through it. If the answer is longer than the date on the bottle, the deal is not for you.

Read the label as if you mean it

Sale or no sale, the label is the part that matters. Look for the total CBD content, the bottle size, the ingredients, and any batch or lot information. If a shop cannot tell you what is in the product in plain English, a discount is not the thing to focus on.

This is also a good moment to check the shop itself. Is there a UK address? Can you contact a human? What is the returns policy? A good deal from a shop you trust is better than a brilliant deal from a page that disappears in January.

The five-minute pre-checkout pause

Before you pay, ask yourself five questions:

If you cannot answer those questions, close the tab. The sale will still be there in ten minutes. Your drawer space will thank you.

A deal is only a deal if it fits your life

Black Friday is very good at selling the idea of a fresh start. CBD and hemp products are not a personality transplant, and a discount does not change what they are. Buy what fits your routine, compare the maths, ignore the theatre, and leave the drawer of regret to someone else.

If you are new to CBD, start with one product and a sensible amount. If you are restocking, buy the thing you already know works for you. And if a deal feels urgent in a way that makes your shoulders tighten, that is usually a sign to make a cup of tea instead.
